Coming to Dinner: Episode Two “Inheritance”

Logline: A novice detective struggles to accommodate his girlfriend’s effort to restore her broken family, all while simultaneously uncovering a traumatic case.

The project “Coming to Dinner" is an anthology short series that will take the theme of 1967 film "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner” and create modern interpretations. In this creative endeavor, we would like to expand on that original concept in an anthology series of four shorts. Two of the shorts will be 5-10 minutes in length while the other two will be 10-15 minutes. Each short will be about a different interracial couple going to their significant others home for the first time for a family dinner. The shorts will contain topics surrounding race, identity and economic status. This is an important project because the representation of people of color on the screen and behind it should be a priority in the industry. There isn't a substantial amount of positive character roles of color, or representation in the writing rooms or as directors. This short series will make it a priority to be inclusive and have the writers, directors, producers, and actors of color, along with representation for women and the LGBTQ community. With this project, we can provide young POC, Women and LGBTQ filmmakers a platform where they can be seen and heard in a way they may not have been before.
